Kitchen Painting - Before and After an 8 Day Makeover
By Steve Skarritt
Granite, tile back splash, tile floor, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, drywall, 3 coats of paint on everything, start to finish, 8 working days (a Sunday was taken off). This is where scheduling, experience, trust, and know-how all must be used. I know of companies that do this kind of work and it takes 3-4 months from start to finish to complete the job. It took 6 weeks for the homeowner to make decisions on what they wanted, and I gave them samples, put up colors, and communicated. Once decisions were made, job was started in about 10 days. Customers were living in the house (they just had got back from a 7 day cruise and I really tried to do the job during that time too but they said no) and even though everybody was kinda ready, everybody had to be on the same page for this job to get done in the time frame it was. Between spraying coats of paint in the kitchen the granite was installed, and same with the tile work. The grouting was done after the kitchen was painted and we were working in the other rooms. Everybody did their jobs and left and it went perfect, just like clock work. The walls we rolled were the last things to be done other than some clean up. I've had amazing response to how well this job went. No cutting corners, nothing done cheap, top-shelf job completed in a fraction of how long others take to do this. This was a downstairs, except dining room, remodel. We've done a 2 story start to finish complete remodel in Katy in just under 3 weeks, but it was vacant. This was another type of ball game. Congrats to everybody that were a part of this job.
